Hello
Welcome to Good Stories.
I'm glad you're here!

Who I am
I'm a Californian to the core, born and raised in Los Angeles. I graduated high school at 16, left home, and promptly flunked out of UCLA. A year later, a little older and maybe a little wiser, I returned to college, eventually earning a bachelor's degree in English from California State University Northridge and a master's degree in journalism from UC Berkeley. From there, I spent three decades as a reporter and editor in print and online media in California, Nebraska and Iowa. I'm a mother of three and grandmother of four. When I'm not writing, reading, hanging with friends and family or trying to learn how to play piano, I can often be found listening to live music, preferably blues, at any one of the many fine dive bars in Omaha, Nebraska, where I live.
What I do
I started writing my first novel, WHAT RUTH LEARNED, fifteen years ago, but life intervened, as it tends to do. In early 2023, I picked it up again, challenged myself to write every day, even a little, and finished the first draft that August. I've been rethinking, rewriting, cutting and polishing my way through five drafts, and now I'm letting it rest while I start work on my next good story.
Meanwhile, I keep my skills sharp with freelance editing work.
