                     Hello

                                          Welcome to Good Stories.

                                             I'm glad you're here!

Who I am

I was born and raised in Los Angeles. I graduated from Van Nuys High School at sixteen, left home, and promptly flunked out of UCLA. A year later, a little older and maybe a little wiser, I returned to college, eventually earning a bachelor's degree in English from California State University Northridge and a master's degree in journalism from UC Berkeley. From there, I worked for thirty-five years as a reporter and editor in print and online news media in California, Nebraska, and Iowa. I'm a mother of three and grandmother of four. When I'm not writing, reading, spending time with friends and family, or trying to learn how to play a piano, I can often be found listening to live blues at one of the many fine dive bars in Omaha, Nebraska, where I live.

What I do

I started writing my first novel, WHAT RUTH LEARNED, twenty years ago, but life intervened, as it tends to do. In early 2023, I picked it up again, challenged myself to write every day, even a little, and finished the first draft that August. I worked through five more drafts, rethinking, rewriting, cutting, and polishing. In the fall of 2025, WHAT RUTH LEARNED was accepted for publication by Culicidae Press of Madison, Wisconsin, and released April 15, 2026.

My second novel, SWING CLUB, is a work in progress.
